Hardwood Floor Installation
Solid hardwood remains the gold standard for living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, and bedrooms. Oak, maple, and hickory are the most common species we install across Monmouth County homes, either sanded and finished on site or installed as prefinished plank. A properly installed solid hardwood floor can be refinished multiple times over its lifetime, which is why so many homeowners still choose it over alternatives.
That said, solid hardwood isn’t the right call for every room or every home. It requires a plywood or OSB subfloor (no slab-on-grade), the room needs reasonable humidity control, and it shouldn’t go in basements or below-grade spaces. If your home checks those boxes, solid hardwood is hard to beat.
Engineered hardwood uses a plywood core with a real hardwood veneer on top. The right product installed on a properly prepped subfloor will give you 15 to 25 years of performance with virtually zero maintenance beyond normal cleaning.
If you're flooring a basement, a kitchen that sees heavy spills, a mudroom that takes beach sand and wet boots, or a rental property that needs durability above all else, LVP is the practical answer. It's also the right choice when budget matters. A quality LVP installed correctly costs roughly half of what hardwood runs per square foot, and it handles moisture conditions that would damage wood within months.
Tile Floor Installation
Porcelain and ceramic tile remain the standard for bathrooms, kitchen floors, mudroom entries, and any space where water resistance and durability are non-negotiable. We handle large-format porcelain, standard ceramic, mosaics, and patterned layouts.
Tile installation is where prep work matters most. Every tile floor we install includes proper waterproofing membrane in wet areas, correct thinset application, and the right underlayment for the subfloor type. Grout joints are sized and sealed to prevent moisture penetration. Slopes are set correctly in showers and bathroom floors so water moves where it should.

Frequently Asked Questions
A common question we get is about subfloor prep during your floor installation. All installations start with checking the subfloor for level, flatness, repairing or replacing any rotted or soft sections, applying self-leveling compound, moisture testing if on concrete slabs, and then finally installing the correct underlayment (vapor barrier, foam, acoustic mat, etc).
Cost depends on the material and the room size. Hardwood typically runs $8 to $14 per square foot installed. Engineered hardwood runs $7 to $12. Luxury vinyl plank runs $5 to $9. Porcelain tile runs $9 to $16 depending on the tile size and layout pattern. Subfloor prep, transitions, and stair work add to the base price. We provide an itemized estimate so you see exactly where every dollar goes.
Sometimes. LVP and engineered hardwood can occasionally be floated over an existing hard surface that's level, structurally sound, and dry. Most of the time we recommend pulling the old material so we can inspect and prep the subfloor properly. Floating over a compromised subfloor just guarantees the new floor fails too.
A single room typically wraps in 1 to 3 days. A whole first floor (1,000 to 1,500 square feet) usually takes 4 to 7 days depending on subfloor prep, transitions, and stair work. Tile takes longer than LVP or hardwood due to set and grout curing time.
For bathrooms, porcelain or ceramic tile is still the best choice because of its complete water resistance and durability. For kitchens, it depends on your priorities. Tile is the most water-resistant option. LVP gives you a warmer feel underfoot with full waterproofing. Engineered hardwood works in kitchens with reasonable care but isn't as forgiving if water sits on it.
